PORT DOUGLAS YACHT CLUB WELCOMES YOU

Port Douglas Yacht Club is an incorporated association formed to promote, encourage and foster the sport of yachting. To foster and maintain the good fellowship that exists between yachtsmen and to keep members in close and friendly association with each other through frequent social gatherings on land and sea.

The club is home to many of the members that live on their boats either moored on Dickson Inlet or in the adjacent marina. A home away from home for the many members regularly sailing in the club organised sailing activities.

With a picture perfect location on Dickson Inlet and a club house with an abundance of charm and character our members are happy to share with visitors and guests the magical ambience of the club. Situated opposite The Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina Port Douglas and adjacent to Closehaven Marina with access off Wharf Street.

There are many facilities catering for our cruising visitors as well as function services for weddings, parties and meetings. You can enjoy an ice cold drink and a delicious meal while taking in the stunning views and join in company with the locals and share a tale or two.

OUR HISTORY

Explore Our Rich Tradition

Founded in 1985, Port Douglas Yacht Club takes great pride in the exceptional leisure activities and fine amenities we have today.

But it wasn't always like it is now.

From inception in '85 it took nine years before the club house was built. The official opening was on December 4th, 1993 opened by Sir James Hardy OBE.

Back then the club only opened on a race day and some Friday and Saturday nights. Members would cook their own meals in the kitchen as there were no staff employed. It was all volunteers in the kitchen and behind the bar.

One of the first extensions was the roof facing Closehaven Marina. Members made a $30 donation per sheet of steel and were rewarded with the right to put their boat name on the timbers. A few more names have been added over the years.

Since we started, the Yacht Club has undergone a significant expansion and renovation of its facilities in order to upgrade the experience for members and guests. We are committed to meeting and surpassing the needs of our valued members.
